Home server cooling - Box fan style!

Home server cooling - Box fan style! Video Clips. Duration : 1.85 Mins.

My method of cooling was just not cutting it any more so I had to change it up. The x366 servers that I have were putting out way to much hot exhaust out the back at a much faster rate than my heat exhaust could handle. So I took off my home depot AC booster fans that I had for extracting heat and put my rack directly in front of the window. Now I have one box fan for intake of fresh air and another for fast heat exhaust. Problem solved with simple box fans, a low complexity method. The average room temps are around 68f/82f night/day, with consistent server fan speeds of 50-60%. Outside temps are around 64f/87f night/day. All this without the need of AC, just fresh outside air. Now I can run all my servers and not have to worry. Next I'm putting up a heat containment wall to separate the hot and cold air to make it a bit more efficient, especially for when summer time swings back around and I have to turn on the AC again. Wouldn't want the AC air to go out the back exhaust.
