4 cylinder, double acting Stirling eng. For marine outboard.

4 cylinder, double acting Stirling eng. For marine outboard. Tube. Duration : 0.32 Mins.

A 4 cylinder Stirling engine has been built and is underhoing development. Swept volume is 800cc, weight 16kg, LPG heated, water cooled, working gas is air at up to 3 bar. All seals are Rulon running dry. Pin drive ball and needle bearings are all sealed. Flywheel shown is for testing only. Orange speed control knob at left adjusts diagonal bleed between cylinders. A single gas jet draws air into the central, vertical mixing tube which branches to the four burners at top. Cooling water is divided into 4 streams at the centre of the thick base plate. These radiate cooling the comp cylinder ends and then flow upward to the 4 cylinder coolers. Regenerators are 180/ inch Stainless mesh wrapped bandage fashion. The modified Siemens pin drive gives almost linear piston rod movement. Pin drive will have a thin, unpressurized, Stainless "dog's bowl" cover. Total cost to date 0A. Two years planning and one year spare time building.
