A batch of thunderstorms rumbled through the Wasatch Front this afternoon, bringing brief heavy rain, lots of lightning and thunder and some refreshing cooler air. After the thermometer hit 97, the thunderstorm dropped the temperature down to 81 briefly. Actually, the humidity today was rather high, making swamp coolers less effective in cooling the air. Monsoon moisture will be pushed eastward tomorrow and a drier southwesterly flow will replace the Monsoon moisture in Northern Utah. However, some thunderstorm activity is possible in Eastern and Southern Utah, especially over the mountains. Temperatures will turn hot again for the 24th of July weekend...with highs reaching at least the upper 90's. I can see another "push" of Monsoon moisture likely to arrive sometime early next week...probably having a significant impact on the Southern and Eastern sections of the state and more isolated thunderstorms along the Wasatch Front.
